I always find it hard to describe myself in a couple of sentences. I am very multi-faceted and have a myriad of interests...

I am really into philosophy and religion. I do practice something akin to neo-paganism/chaos magick. But my beliefs are a constant work-in-progress. Mainly, I believe in respect. Respect of other's free will, respect for our world, respect of one's self, respecting promises. I think Deity is something so big (though not remote, I believe in its immanence, I don't agree with most Christians that say that God is transcendent) , it can only be grasped in flashes, and certainly not defined in words, or in terms of gender. I am getting closer and closer to calling myself a Buddhist.
I am very interested in science as well, and I am often thinking about where the limits of the one intersect the other. Especially when it comes to neuroscience, and the mystical effects of psychedelic substances on people.

I am half-Italian and half-Dutch. As in, I was born and raised in Holland and Italy, and moved to the States in 2001.

I love writing. For a long time all I wrote was poetry, but I am now getting much more comfortable with prose. (My most recent poetry, which is mostly pretty old, can be found at www.livejournal.com/users/_soul_of_flames)

Though I am quite the social butterfly, and an extrovert in energy terms (meaning, I recharge my batteries when hanging out with people), I am quite shy, and so I am sometimes a little nervous around new people. But I love to listen, and I am known for being very understanding and empathic.

I am polyamorous, pansexual, kinky, and a switch. I live with my husband Kirk, but I am open to dating the right person with his approval.

Not that anyone interpreted this wrong on OKC, yet, but I wanted to make one thing clear: I DO NOT have sex with anyone who wants to have sex with me. I also do not go out with the specific intention of finding a sex partner. I believe in love. Often love translates in cuddles, kisses, and holding hands. Sometimes it develops into outright sex. It's about chemistry and friendship. There are no simple rules, besides respect (see above).

I work as an over-the-phone interpreter,as a freelancer, from home.

I capriciously update my journal and write poetry.

I am a Massage Therapist, though I am still waiting to start my practice here in Wilmington.

I am a full-time Creative Writing student at UNCW. I particularly love to edit other people's work, but I have quite a few projects of my own I'm working on. I write just about anything.

Writing, dancing, cooking (though I don't like doing it, I really enjoy my food), learning new languages, organizing, pondering difficult questions, dressing up, being silly, acting half my age, acting double my age, helping people change, helping people in general, playing devil's advocate, debating difficult subjects...

Food... any good food. I just love to eat. Especially veggies and pasta. As far as cuisines go, of course, Italian (but really not much that you would find in a restaurant), Indian, Thai, Mexican. Some of my favorite dishes: pasta with broccoli, pita with hummus and arugula, vegetarian burritos from Ino's (one of the things I miss from Chicago), and, yes, biscuits and gravy, which proves I must have been an American in a past life. *l*

The company of cats, music, good food, a well-stocked wardrobe (I just love to play dress-up!), sex, books.

My future, and that of other people. Politics. Fire. Friends and family. Science and mysticism.

Socializing. I don't care whether friends come over to see me, or if I go out to dance or to a party...

I cried at the end of "Hair".
