Some things I like:

Laughing. Theatre. Or theater. I'm not picky. Progressive politics. Reading. Sports, especially baseball, soccer and football. Long conversations about random topics. Block Island. Games of all sorts. British actors. Jameson.

Some things I don't like:

Migraines. The argument that Democrats and Republicans are basically the same. Willful ignorance. Black licorice. Raw tomatoes.

Having fun, grumbling about recent SCOTUS decisions (except when they occasionally get things right, as with the recent decision upholding habeas corpus), laughing with friends, analyzing life, consuming books, theatre, movies and good television shows, engaging in long conversations, and trying to be a positive force in the world. Oh, you meant what's my profession? I'll get back to you once I figure it out. Currently I'm looking at the book publishing world while working the proverbial day job.

Baking the best pumpkin pie ever. Remembering completely obscure and useless pieces of information, like the name of the girl who played Mabel opposite my brother's Frederick in a 1991 high school production of The Pirates of Penzance (hi, Anna B.!). Finding the black humor in most any situation. Crossruffing. Helping random tourists from South Africa find Beauty Bar.

Food: I like all kinds. Well, except for sushi. Tragic, I know.

People. Solitude. Books. My iBook. The ability to imagine. Comfortable walking shoes.

How awesome it would be if I could live multiple parallel lives, so that I could experience all of the different paths I've thought about. This is less because I'm dissatisfied with my current life and more because there will always be too many things to do, books to read and futures to experience than I will ever get to. This world is so big.

Conversely, how absolutely appalling humans can be.

And, you know, sex and dating and baseball and books. Stuff!

Having dinner with a friend, watching baseball at a bar, reading at home, seeing a play or movie...it really varies. I'm not a big fan of clubs, though.

I am a hopeless romantic. I think love is the greatest thing in the world (except for maybe a nice MLT where the mutton is nice and lean...but I digress).

One caveat: I am much more interested in meeting people in person than engaging in long email conversations over many weeks. If you think I seem like someone with whom you'd enjoy having a drink (alcoholic or otherwise), then by all means message me. I care much less about specific cultural likes or dislikes we have in common and more about whether we mesh well on a fundamental level, which I feel is easier to ascertain in person.
